In Tamarindo, the views at sea level are photo worthy. They’re so good it’s estimated that over 5-billion photos are taken in the Tamarindo Bay every year. We didn’t make that up. (Fine, it’s an estimate.)
Up the hill from said view, in a Tamarindo vacation rental, things get panoramic. You can start to see the curvature of the earth in the hills that backdrop this little surf town. It’s actually amazing, and not in that overused word kind of way, but in that you will be amazed. Awesome works too.
But it gets better…
Up the most prominent hill above Tamatown, there stands a miniature skyscraper, where the views are stratospheric. One guest who stayed there once complained about the noise levels… of the passing International Space Station. (Okay, that was an outright lie. Please accept our apologies.)
In any case, the view is pretty amazing from this tower on Paradise Hill. (Okay, strike three. It’s not called that. From here on out, nothing but facts.)
El Gran Mirador offers the most panoramic view of Tamarindo, and the accommodations will blow your socks off. Period. Thankfully, you won’t need the socks in this flip-flop town.
The drive to Mirador is nearly all paved from both airports, so you won’t need a four wheel drive vehicle for climbing the hill, but you may choose to have something for getting back down and up the hill. It’s an easy five-minute walk down to the main road, but the walk up takes what feels like a million years. It’s not really that bad if you don’t mind a little uphill hiking, but you may prefer luxury living.
Good news. Once you get to Mirador it’s all about luxury living. The elevator car lets you out at the large gathering area, which is an open concept kitchen and living space. Sure, the kitchen has brushed metal appliances and granite counter tops, but that’s not what you will notice.
The view will be the first thing you see. Don’t worry. You won’t be the first person to skipping the bedrooms over the world-class vista.
Once you’re done drooling, taking pictures, and checking out the pool, you’ll find the bedrooms up in the loft. This three-bedroom-three-bath comfortably accommodates six adults, but will sleep eight. There’s one king, two queens, and ample room for your things with everything you need to sleep and shower.
The living room’s no slouch for comfort either. Air-conditioned space, vaulted, and comfy. Go ahead and flop on that couch. You may lose a few hours napping here. That’s okay. Costa Rica’s all about nap-time; that, and surfing, zip-lining, eco-tourism, monkeys, sloths, butterflies, waterfalls… you know, that stuff.
When night falls, your car will be right where you left it, in your private, covered parking space. The center of town and the best night you’ve had out in a long time is only minutes away. Go ahead. You deserve it.
Don’t forget: socks off.
